This week in our learning:

In Language Arts, we are continuing to listen to lots of different stories to help us write stories on our own that have characters, a setting, a problem and a beginning, middle and end. We are learning how to sequence the events and retell our stories to a friend before we write stories. Ask your student about what they are writing about in school!

In Math, we continue to work on developing our understanding of subtraction of larger numbers. We use manipulatives, like counters, number lines and 100-charts to show subtraction problems. These are some of the strategies that we are learning to help us solve subtraction problems.

In Social Studies, we are learning about daily life in the communities of Iqaluit, Meteghan, and Saskatoon. We are comparing it to daily life in our community of Calgary. We use the textbook Looking at Places to help us learn.

In Science, we are comparing the surface tension between a variety of liquids, comparing the mixing abilities of a variety of liquids and learning what the word 'dissolve' means. We learn a lot through the experiments that we do. Ask your student about these experiments and try some of them at home!

Thank you for all of your support. Stay warm over the weekend!
