This week in our learning:
In Language Arts, we are continuing to work on writing stories that have characters, a setting, a problem and a beginning, middle and end. We listen to lots of books in school that teach us different ways to create a story and model our stories on books that we have heard.
In Math, we are starting to work on developing our understanding of subtraction of larger numbers. We use manipulatives, like counters, number lines and 100-charts to show subtraction problems. We are working on creating our own math stories that show addition or subtraction.
In Social Studies, we are using graphic organizers to research animals that live in Meteghan, Nova Scotia. We are taking the information that we find and writing sentences that show our understanding.
In Science, we are exploring liquids and we are doing all sorts of fun experiments! We are learning words like viscosity, surface tension and cohesion. You can ask your student about the experiments and try some of them at home!
We are starting new units in gym on Monday. Mrs. Hatch's class will be doing soccer and Ms. Fuchs' class will be doing fitness.
