Hello Families!

This week in our learning:

Math
We have been working hard on place value and understanding numbers up to 100. This is tricky work, and the students have been representing numbers by building them in a variety of ways. We have taken apart 100-charts and made number lines, we have counted blocks and organized them into groups of 10, and we have skip counted using 10-frames. Here are some examples:

In Science we have studied ants. We have learned their body parts and have made a scientific drawing of ants. We used these drawing with our Kindergarten buddies on Friday, and will do an art lesson with them next week.

In Social Studies we have begun learning about three communities in Canada: Iqaluit, Meteghan and Saskatoon. This year we will learn about the diversity of Canadian communities and how this makes Canada unique!

In Language Arts we are continue to learn specific reading and writing skills that students work on at their level and pace. Please ask your student to read daily and use RAZ-Kids. The login information is in their agendas, or if lost please email your teacher (lhatch@cbe.ab.ca or mlfuchs@cbe.ab.ca).

Thank you and have a great weekend!
