We have had a busy week!
Math: We are working on counting! Our learning goals are to count to 100, forward and backwards, and counting by 2's, 5's and 10's. Lots of repetition and practice at home will help your student learn to do this quickly and correctly.
Social Studies: We have started our study of different communities in Canada by looking at maps of. We have looked at our community and found our homes, and talked about living "near" and "far" from the school. We have learned the directions on a compass and you might hear a rhyme at home to help remember North, South, East and West.
Science: We will begin the year learning about small flying and crawling creatures.
Language Arts: We are doing a variety of literacy skills in our classrooms. We are writing about ourselves and learning how to organize our papers by skipping lines and forming letters correctly. We are practicing independent reading skills and learning how to be a good listener during our stories.
Art: Another excellent art project in both classrooms. Ms Fuch's class examined nature and painted amazing realistic trees in tempura paint. Ms Hatch's class draw self-portraits in the style of Modigliani (long/thin).
