It's been a busy week in grade 2!
Language Arts: We are reviewing our skills in writing and reading, while listening to read a loud stories and making personal connections to text. We continue to write about ourselves, and are working on correct letter formation and organizing our printing for legibility (neatness).
Math: We continue to practice counting to 100, by 1's, 2's, 5's and 10's. We are looking for patterns in counting, including looking at number charts. A way you can help at home is to count with your child, and explain strategies you use to count higher numbers. For example, ,when counting larger groups you can make groups of 5 and count by skip counting.
Social Studies: We have learned more about maps and are working on using maps to help us understand our community.
Science: We are learning about small flying and crawling creatures and are beginning to go outside to look for them! Mr Huppie has also visited our classrooms and has explained ways of knowing the changing of the seasons by looking closely at the changes in plants and animals.
Physical Education: We have learned games, including how to skip! We are very busy practicing catching and throwing during group games.
Health: We are working on making and keeping friendships.
Reminder that next week there is no school on Friday September 25!
Have a great weekend!
